“The Harvest Choir of Tharn IX”

When the sky cracked for the final time, the Choir awoke.

Not born—awoke. Their copper wombs had been singing low frequencies into the soil of Tharn IX for centuries, forgotten by their makers, mistaken for ancient mining equipment by the few who survived the Meltwinds. But this morning, the ground remembered how to pulse, and the Choir remembered what it was made for: Collection.

They do not speak in words, but in sequences of compression—clicks, whines, harmonics pitched to rupture memory. Their mandibles are not for feeding, but unmaking. They thread into what once was flesh and tease apart the dreams baked into bone.

The central figure—Archivist Prime—carries the oldest song in its chest. Each orbital chant-scout around it echoes that melody with their own cruel inflections. They search the scablands for neural fragments, whispers of rebellion, stray thoughts. Their harvest is not of biomass, but intention.

Some say the Choir was once built to guard us, long ago. Others believe they are what remains of the idea of protection, twisted by entropy and dust. Regardless, they do not listen to pleas.

They only listen to echoes.

And if you’re quiet, very quiet, and the red winds still—
you might hear them harmonizing the scream you haven’t had the courage to release yet.

It will be beautiful.
It will be the last thing you forget.
