Trapped smoke

“Trapped Smoke”

In the hollow hours between breath and belief, a vat of ancestral syrup was left to dream beneath the arches of the forgotten observatory. No one remembers building it. The observatory had never observed. It simply hummed, waiting for the precise moment when color would become a verb.

Within the syrup—dense as burned honey, alive as old arguments—lived a vaporous intelligence known only as Fume Logic. It had once been a philosopher, or a god, or maybe just a broken compass with delusions of grammar. Whatever it was, it was now neither solid nor smoke but trapped—caught behind columns made of sugar-salted bone and baked guilt.

The bars weren’t real, not entirely. They only appeared whenever someone tried to look directly at the center. The center, of course, was not a place but a when—a molten hour coiled in itself like a snail that remembers too much.

To stare into the core was to feel time wrinkle and tighten like a bad decision.

And so, Trapped Smoke became a performance piece, repeating itself forever, burning slow. An opera written in vapor and fermented shadow. Each swirl, a syllable. Each vein of ochre, a scream you forgot you made.

The only way out is to forget what light was for.
