“It’s What You Think”

Once every eleven centuries, the sand beneath Thought Mountain ripens and births a Watcher.

This is one of them.

His name cannot be spoken, only whistled backward through a rusted harmonica. His job is to balance the three hemispheres of Perception: the Red Eye of Rage, the Green Eye of Regret, and the Blue Coil of Really Bad Ideas. Each time a traveler passes by and says, “What is that thing?”, the Watcher answers by blinking out a different universe.

But here’s the catch: he’s powered entirely by misplaced certainty. The stronger your belief that you understand him, the more circuitry he steals from your assumptions. Many pilgrims arrive with cameras, journals, or algorithms. None leave with the same shape of brain.

On the day this image was taken, the Watcher had just consumed the notion of “parallel parking” and was digesting the color mauve. His antennae twitched with satisfaction. His central furnace (formerly a child’s solar system project) glowed with melted yes/no questions.

To behold him is to have your thoughts re-wired using spare parts from forgotten tools and embarrassing memories. You’ll still recognize yourself—just slightly to the left.

He exists only to remind you that it is what you think.

And that’s the problem.
