Then came the writhing: staircases tangled into bone, pulpits bled corridors, and stained glass eyes blinked themselves open. Monks were absorbed\u2014one by one\u2014into a growing consciousness of cathedrals that thought they were beasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was no building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was Misht\u2019aul, the Pilgrim-Golem of Regret, stitched from basilicas, bastions, basil leaves, and bone. It walks not with feet, but with forgotten names.
